United States: TotalEnergies announces the sanction of the development of Ballymore in the Gulf of Mexico in the United States

Paris, May 17, 2022 – TotalEnergies, through its subsidiary TotalEnergies E&P USA, Inc., announces the sanction of the development of Ballymore, located 120 kilometers off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico in the United States.

TotalEnergies holds a direct 40% stake in Ballymore. Co-owner Chevron USA Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has a 60% working interest as operator.

The Ballymore field will be developed through 3 production wells, linked to the Blind Faith floating production unit operated by Chevron. First Oil is expected in 2025 with a capacity of 75,000 barrels of oil per day. By using existing infrastructure, the project ensures the lowest development costs and lower emissions intensity.

“The sanction of the development of the Ballymore field, just four years after the discovery, is the result of our exploration efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, said David Mendelson, Senior Vice President Americas of TotalEnergies Exploration & Production. Thanks to its linked development concept, this decision is in line with TotalEnergies’ strategy to focus on low-profit, low-emission oil projects.
