Biomerics Announces Image Guided Intervention (IGI) Division


SALT LAKE CITY, May 2, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Biomerics, a leading vertically integrated supplier to the attractive interventional device market, has announced the creation of a new division, Biomerics Image Guided Intervention (IGI). The IGI division of Biomerics, headquartered in Salt Lake Cityprovides advanced image generation and processing technologies to enable advanced minimally invasive surgical procedures in real time.

The goal of image-guided intervention systems is to increase the clinician’s spatial navigation capabilities while reducing the mental load associated with merging multiple sources of information. The Biomerics IGI division was created to integrate Biomerics’ interventional catheter technologies with its imaging and guidance technologies to activate these systems.

The company’s full range of micro-image generation and processing technologies include optical imaging (endoscopy), ultrasound imaging and fluoroscopy (x-ray imaging). Biomerics IGI division’s core imaging technologies include video generation (cameras, lenses, cables, lighting, IR, board design), video processing, ultrasound generation and processing, and reality display improved and software technology.

The Biomerics IGI division’s guidance technologies include patient registration, positioning, tracking and navigation technologies; diagnostic detection; and enhanced reality display technology (overlay). Biomerics leverages these technologies to enable minimally invasive surgery, ablation, embolization and biopsy procedures.
