It may be noted that in sync with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence, Prime Minister Modi addressed the beneficiaries during a program held in Shimla.
The objective of the program was to assess how these programs have brought ease of life to citizens. The interaction with the beneficiaries mainly highlighted the impact of the programs such as housing, availability of drinking water, food, health and nutrition, livelihoods and financial inclusion, etc. on people. It is expected that this interaction will not only highlight the people-centered approach of these regimes leading to the ease of life of the citizens, but also enlighten the government on the aspirations of the people and ensure that no one be left behind in the nation’s march towards progress.
Sarma said the state government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to the people with several pro-people and pro-poor policies. He said the government wants all sections of the population to be adequately served so that no one, even those at the bottom of the pyramid, remains outside the reach of government social measures. He therefore called on the people of the state to come forward and enjoy the benefits of government schemes.
While presenting the sanction letters to the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma called on farmers in Assam to take full advantage of the scheme. He said the government has both the resources and the intensity to bring in more beneficiaries under this flagship program. Farmers in the state should come forward and use this scheme for their welfare.
The Chief Minister, while disbursing the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme to five lakh beneficiaries of the scheme, urged them to make good use of the amount. He said proper and judicious use of the installment amount would entitle them to second and third installments. He also asked them not to fall prey to unscrupulous elements who could, in the name of giving them homes under PMAY, take away their commission amount. He also said that his government is striving to bring dignity to everyone’s life as the government is committed to promoting a narrative of socio-economic and academic empowerment based on the Prime Minister’s vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Biswas and Sabka Prayas.
It can be noted that today in Gargaon, the Chief Minister, Dr. Sarma handed over the first installment of PMAY to about 15,000 beneficiaries from Sivasagar and Charaideo districts up to Rs 32,500 per beneficiary. There are about five lakh beneficiaries in Assam for PMAY and another eight lakh beneficiaries will be mainstreamed into the flagship program.
